The story of this picture:
On one of my trips getting my kicks on Route-66, I took the
opportunity to spend a couple nights in Williams, Arizona.
During the off-day there, I took the Grand Canyon Railroad up to the
South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The train ride was a blast. They take you up there and let you
wander around for a few hours and then bring you back to Williams.
Wandering about on the South rim was awesome. When walking on
the trails on the rim, we came across a female elk.
They are beautiful animals, and quite large. If she had a mind
to, she could do harm to a fellow.
Fortunately, she was a perfectly behaved lady and posed for my
picture.
