The story of this picture:
San Juan Bautista is centered on an old Spanish Mission.
In the days of the missionaries, they raised chickens.
When the mission fell into disrepair, the chickens escaped and
became ferel.
Flocks of the birds roamed all over town and added a quaint touch of
color and vivacity to the community.
But, at last, the townspeople grew tired of the nuisance and the
mess and demanded that they be irradicated.
I think it was too bad. The chickens were so much fun to see.
