The story of this picture:

This little fellow had a hind-quarter of a hare. He was dragging it about and was very protective of it.
He allowed me to walk slowly up to about 10-12 feet from him.
He did get a little nervous at that distance and so I approached no further.

There are raptors which make their home around the lake.
And some people provide food to encourage them to stay, leaving out meat for them to eat.
I suspect this is a result of that effort since he has only a portion of the hare.
